Traineeships combine time at work with training to give you a nationally recognised qualification and the experience you need for a career in a media field. Traineeships are offered full-time, part-time or school-based.

Coursework is delivered online and face-to-face by Qantm College while you work and learn on-the-job with an employer in the media industry.

Qantm College Brisbane campus currently delivers training for the CUF30107 Certificate III in Media through User Choice and Fee for Service Traineeships to eligible Queensland residents.

How do I apply for a traineeship?

To sign up for a traineeship:

  • You first need to contact your nearest Australian Apprenticeship Centre.  The AAC will assess your eligibility for Government funding.
  • You will also need to find a suitable employer to work for - to undertake a media traineeship, media will need to be a requirement of the job.
  • The employer will then need to choose Qantm as the SRTO (Supervising Registered Training Organisation).

Will I be working for Qantm for my traineeship?

No, Qantm College is the Supervising Registered Training Organisation, which means we will be responsible for providing your training, and supervising you to ensure you meet the responsibilities of your traineeship.

Will Qantm find me an employer for my traineeship?

No, Qantm College is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) not an employment agency.

There are a number of different ways you could find a suitable employer:

  • The best way to find the job you want is to search for an employer yourself:
    • Telephone, write/email or visit employers who you might like to work for.
    • Try small media companies such as photographers, digital video production companies, web or graphic design companies.
    • Contact large organisations or government departments that you know offer traineeships.
  • Search local and state newspapers or major job websites for job vacancies
  • Visit Job Network or Centrelink offices to access the Australian Job search databases.
  • Contact your local Australian Apprenticeship Centre - some may be able to help you find a suitable job.

What qualifications will I receive?

When you successfully complete the course, you will be awarded the Certificate III in Media. This course is nationally recognised as part of the Australian Qualifications Framework.

Where and how can I study?

This course is predominantly delivered online which allows you to study from any location at the times that suit you best, and is ideally suited to school students or people with full-time work commitments.

When the trainee is enrolled they will be provided with login details to access the online resources for the course.

Trainees will have access to a range of interactive learning resources including video tutorials, forums and blogs and gain continual support and feedback from their Qantm instructors.

Block training sessions are offered during school holiday periods to enable trainees to fast track their traineeship, participate in workshops and gain assistance from Qantm instructors.

How much will it cost me?

There may be a nominal enrolment fee, however User-choice traineeships are funded by the Queensland Government. Fee for Service traineeships are also offered.

During your traineeship you may also have to cover costs for:

  • text books and other study materials
  • parking or transport costs
  • uniforms and equipment
  • travel and accommodation to attend training

You and your employer may be eligible to access a range of financial incentives from the Qld and/or Australian Government to help meet the costs of employing and training you. Contact your nearest Australian Apprenticeship Centre to find out which incentives you or your employer may be eligible.

How much will I get paid?

What hardware/software do I need?

You will need to have access to a computer with the required software with broadband internet access.

How long is the course?

Full-time study is 1 year, Part-time 2 years.

The course is made up of 11 units of study.
